Academic Intervention Services (AIS) are services designed to help students achieve the learning standards in English Language Arts and Mathematics in Grades K-8 and Social Studies and Science in Grades 4-8. These services include two components:
- Additional instruction that supplements the general curriculum (regular classroom instruction): and/or
- Student support services needed to address barriers to improve academic performance during and after the school day.
The intensity of such services may vary, and have been designed to respond to student needs as indicated through State and District Assessment results.
Students eligible for AIS, including those with disabilities are:
- Those who score below the designated performance levels on elementary and intermediate assessments in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science.
- Those at risk of not meeting the State Standards as indicated through the district developed assessment program, including the Early Literacy Profile in Grades K-3.
AIS will be provided during non-instructional periods throughout the school day and after school from 2:00 – 3:30 P.M Tuesday – Thursday. Parents will be notified of students being considered for AIS.
NOTE: Regular progress reports will be provided to the parents of students receiving services.
